One of the most recent
strangeden comics reminded me of far too many memories *sigh*
My family fighting for my brothers and I all through school.
Happily I'm the only one that ended up getting "treatment" of any kind - my bros made it through clear and good. (only so far a parent can protect... but I am/was REALLY different).
My mom was going through hades backwards in my rough times but she successfully kept my younger bro clear completely - who was not only strange but dyslexic and a poster child for ADHD. We (my family) found him normal, healthy and interesting. We won!!!!!
Okay WAY too many memories.
of course my little bro still has fond memories of one of the punishments he had - to run laps. By the end of the year he was out-running the teacher, who liked to run with the students he was punishing. My little bro can still run really well.
oh sudden thought... memories of punishments....
Me? Lots of different ones. I was usually left alone though 'cause I got along with teachers. I just didn't with students....
However a friend's family:
one - sent to the library if he was late. He loves to read.... he was late a lot.
one - sent on his own. Liked thinking lots, he enjoyed it.
one - forced to help out cleaning the place.. Same thing *g*
one - given extra homework.. ummm in a family that loves research?
Anyways I've completely forgotten the rest but every single punishment the schools did to one member of the family, either them or the next one found it to be exactly what they wanted and so got punished heavily.... Silly school.
Of course one of the same schools asked the father "Why is your child so disruptive in class?". The father's answer? "Why is your class so boring?"... Note the parent was a teacher too - and probably a good one.
more later - and something seasonally appropriate maybe.
sitting back, enjoying dinner listening to Manowar (British heavy metal band) and contemplating reading some Michael Moorcock books...
