Political and news randomness. Some cool, some EMPHATICALLY not: The first two are not cool at all.

from [ profile] particle_man6 although I follow this feed too and managed to miss it:
Vegans get life sentences in baby's starving death
WTF???? Bloody Hel - do they think that breast-feeding is a violation of vegan rules?
These people have gotten what they deserve - life sentences. Bloody monsters.

an interesting note at the tail though:
The Canadian Pediatric Society says a vegan diet may compromise the growth of infants and children. The group suggests a less restrictive lacto-ovo diet of non-animal foods plus eggs and dairy products for children to meet their nutrition needs.

B.C. mulling charges against polygamist sect
If anyone wonders why "poly" hasn't received credibility, it's not the viewed-as-flakey "polyamoury" culture (speaking ref political rather than my own thought - I consider it a fairly rational culture and quite valuable actually). It's these yahoos that make "poly" wrong. Forced child marriages, forced multiple marriages? (all suspected, no legal proof as yet)
When these people are dealt with - as well as some other egregious human rights violations - THEN, maybe, poly will go before Canadian law.
Oh and the "Bountiful" community bothers me on a lot of other levels too. They're certainly not the Mormon church my families are members of.

And now for something a whole pile happier: (from [ profile] breklor)
Mike Gravel: ‘Love between a man and a man is beautiful’
Damn. Dem candidate for president, former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel didn’t miss a beat when a young woman, Katelyn Lemay, asked him about marriage equality at a WMUR TV town hall-style forum in New Hampshire.

Could you even fathom the top tier Dems giving a simple, straightforward answer like this:
“If a couple of lesbians or gay men want to get married, and they love each other, they should have the right to do that and enjoy all the legalities in our society that go along with that. I have no problem with that at all. I think that people who create these problems of homophobia and the likes of that do us a disservice. We are all human beings and one of the things that should motivate us, most of all, is love.

Love between a man and a woman is beautiful, love between a woman and a woman is beautiful, love between a man and a man is love is beautiful too. What this world need is a lot more than what we presently have.”

He was also asked about morality and government. Gravel, speaking about Bush’s faith-based initiatives, said that “You can’t legislate morality.”
